A poem about trying to forget.

Would you mind...

Whispered across the exposed juncture of jugular and carotid.

Destroying me?

Pressed into the curvature of a small world, begged.

Just for tonight...

Mumbled across collarbones like a plea in a wide ocean of need.

Would you ruin me?

Asked like a beggar for blood, bleeding out into the sewers.

Please.

Gritty in his throat, sand crunching in his teeth, sour.

Fucking, please.

Downturned lips curled toward scratched wooden floors.

Hurt me.

Filth coated his lips as they moved across thin golden hairs.

I won't complain.

Bitter regret and acrid longing washed through his aching soul.

I won't say a word.

Fingers wet with blood and sin caressed down bare sides.

I won't leak a memory.

Desperate, cruel, this need to be destroyed inflated inside him.

Please.

It pressed fat hands against the pale white curves of his ribs.

Just...

Cracks spidered across his bones, his sternum, his glass heart.

Destroy me.

Fingers hooked on slacks black as the pain smoking up his soul.

Hurt me.

Gripped with white-knuckled hands because this was nearly

I can't keep thinking about him.

As bad as losing him to the dark rain in that forest a year back.

I can't.

The memory of that fear, of the love, of the loss was suffocating.

It's killing me.

It was loud, gunshots next to his ear and thunder at 3 a.m.

I'm begging...

It was a broken sound in the stillness of the rented hotel room.

Destroy me.

The man he lost would have killed anyone who complied.

Leave nothing left.

He would have slaughtered whole worlds to keep him safe.

Nothing to pick up...

Nude flesh against nude flesh, the silver blade bled him easily.

Or put back together.

It split open the closed curtain of his skin and exposed the pain.

Ah, yeah...rip me apart.

Red fell to the sheets shrouded in the shadow of a cursed night.

Make me forget.

Said in a rushed breath before a cry and after a hiss of pain.

I don't want to know him.

Didn't want to think his enemy could sacrifice his heart for him.

Take it away.

Moaned into the mattress between agonised wails, desperate.

Take it away!

Screamed into the open air with the memory of protection.

TAKE IT AWAY!

This anguish, this pain, this shredding agony could only exist if

He's gone.
