Lying to Myself

(Disclaimer: I know this is not a popular sentiment, and will raise some eyebrows, but that doesn't mean the emotions and feelings are not true.)
If ever I try to leave you
Or utter I’m saying good-bye
If ever I tell you, it’s over
And I’m done,
Finito….
Good-bye
Just know, I’m lying to myself
To protect my pride and ego
It’s scary to be so independent
Yet so dependent on how I feel for you
So, I’m telling you now...
Just lock me up,
Toss away the key
Hold me down
Then tie me up
Send me to rehab
To straighten out my thinking
Buy me new glasses
So, I can see more clearly
And maybe even a hearing aid
So , can hear the truth from your lips
Get me drunk and stupid
Just don't ever let me go
I never will want to leave you
Even if the devil on my shoulder
Says I do
The angel in my heart
Will love you forever
So, feel free to
Just lock me up,
Toss away the key
Hold me down
Then tie me up
Send me to rehab
To straighten out my thinking
Buy me new glasses
So, I can see more clearly
And maybe even a hearing aid
So, I can hear the truth
Get me drunk and stupid
Just don't let me go
I’ve got a bad habit of lying to myself
