Lover's Quarrel

Warning: Brutalization

The alarm clock rang

Through empty air

Blood splattered

Everywhere

The scene grotesque

Lying there

open on the floor

Frigid air

Flowed through the window

broken in shards

blood on jagged edges

A storm came through

not mother nature

no

it was something more fearsome

a person with a temper

not calculated

or cold

hot tempered anger

rage that's too bold

scattered guts on the walls

Just outside

A busy street

A cello played

with deep notes

A somber tune

Across the way

A neighbor sighed

As he looked up

he saw the signs

He turned around

and walked away

his head down

a friend in grave

An angry boss

an employee late

for days

no return

A wandering thought

A call from mom

no answer

my busy child

never any time

A walk down the block

A knock on the door

A hollow sound

an ear to wood

A ringing in the background

How long shall it wait

the corpse on the floor

Will anyone ever

open your door?
