Love story (64)

Adrenaline

My

heartbeat

ran

ahead

of me again

not

in danger,

but

in awareness,

like

my emotions

were

speaking

first

and I

was

only

catching

up late.

And

somewhere

in

all

of this,

I

caught

myself

missing

your

pretty smile

not

just

the

way it

looks,

but

the

way

it

made

ordinary

moments

feel

less uncertain,

like

for a

second,

everything

made sense

without

trying.

Now I

sit

with

the

echo of today

the

nervousness,

the

softness,

the

confusion,

the

yearning

realising

some

mysteries

don’t

ask

to

be solved,

only

felt,

quietly,

until

they

pass.

My

face

grew

warmer,

like I

was

caught

in a

quiet

fever

I

couldn’t

explain.

It

feels

like

I’m

standing

in

front

of

you,

trying

to

find

the

right

words

and

failing

quietly.
