Love Songs For Me

I'll write love songs for me

and I'll be happy, you'll see,

turning into all that I can be,

an infinite, eternal sea.

When the waves crash down,

I feel more lost than found.

No one there to grab my hand.

No one there to understand

that I am surely slipping

and I'm one good fall from dead

that my mind is ripping

as I scream, "Off with my head!"

So I'll write love songs to me

and I'll grow up, you will see.

Envision what I could truly be,

hoping I won't drown in my own sea.

Buried to my neck in sand,

nothing underneath to stand.

Crying out with no sound.

Does anyone need me around?

I'm trying to be patient,

but my limbs are bound.

I tell myself I could face it

if I were six feet underground.

Then I'll write love songs for me.

I might make it, you'll see.

I'm not sure what I could be

so I'll swim through self-doubt's sea.

But I shipwrecked on an island

existentially alone again.

Lit my flare but no one saw,

rubbed sticks til they turned raw.

I've accepted no one's coming,

but I still hope when I see lights.

I'll use music for the numbing

of these lonely nights.

And I'll write love songs to me.

I don't care what you see.

I will just try to be

as I drift out into sea.

I'll love myself more than anyone else

and embrace alone that's meant for me.
