Love's Timeless Connection

- The method of contact with mother

In college days, when words were penned,

I heeded my mother's wish, my heart to send.

No emails flew through cyberspace,

But letters carried love, at a slower pace.

——

Across the mountains, my words would roam,

Through lightning storms, they'd find a home.

They bridged the mortal world's divide,

To reach my mother, by my side.

——

She yearned for letters, slow and sure,

So her longing for me could endure.

In her hands, my words found grace,

Expressions of love, in each embrace.

——

For if the words arrived too fast,

Her yearning, worry, wouldn't last.

The charm of connection, it would fade,

Her deep longing, left unswayed.

——

But time stood still, as love would grow,

With every letter, her heart would know,

That distance couldn't break the bond we shared,

A love so strong, forever bared.

——

Through ink and paper, our souls conversed,

In handwritten lines, our love dispersed.

No matter the miles, or time apart,

Our connection thrived, a work of art.

——

And as the years rolled swiftly by,

Those letters, treasures, would never lie.

A testament to a love profound,

In words, our hearts forever bound.

——

So let the world move at its frantic pace,

We'll cherish this love, in its own space.

For letters, slow and heartfelt, bring,

A connection that time can't unfurl or sting.

——

And though technology may reign,

In our hearts, the letters shall remain.

A testament to a love so true,

That even time can't undo.

——

So, let the emails fly and swiftly race,

But our letters, they hold a special place.

For in each word, love's essence gleams,

Creating a bond that transcends all dreams.

——

In the realm of letters, forever we'll find,

A love that's timeless, intertwined.

Through mountains and storms, our hearts unite,

In letters, love takes flight.

I love that letters were exchanged! My dad used to write me letters on paper restaurant place mats!! He stayed in touch with so many people through letters. Now it’s quicker and easier to email or chat but so nice to get something in the mail!!

  • I'm not a fan of letters but I loved your poem!

  • Both gratitude and love for mothers were mixed in here. Letters were sent at a slower pace, so the love remains for a long time😁. Well done.
