Love is war and I am a knight
I am its guard in my heart
The home of this love is in danger
Where my heart is desperate and miserable
How many nights have I spent in love
And the company in it is lonely and friendly
Those shining stars that
Between the sky our burning lamp
We walked with it between the nights that
In it he sits and a competitor sits
I saw in it a radiant hope
The fresh hope in it is not dry
War forces us to part
The night of battle is the dark day of love
And love on the day of war does not disappear
His smile but he is frowning
Our peace unites us on the day of meeting
We reap in it what love has sown
Love is not safe if it destroys the spiteful and the traitors
