Love In The Wind

I can choose who I love, the way the wind can choose to dance with the flame or extinguish it completely.

"Do you love them" never made sense because, "of course I can" if I want.

But you rolled in on a Marlboro cloud, and your calloused hands took mine. From that moment on I've been the wind and rain that never gives flames the chance to shine.

I want my life on starlit acres, with fire, dirt, and ash; but I need the real world to keep me anchored, so I don't lose myself when your restless soul makes us crash.

You hate the fact I couldn't wait for you to be better for me than you were on that day, but I guess we know now that I'll never leave, and can never promise to stay.

So build our home on your own, do the work, make it right. Be the place I can rely on so that when I am finally free I can run to the starlight you made for us, and never say "goodbye".
