Searching for a version of love that doesn't exist in her world.

Her lonely heart withers;

Her undying faith grows old.

*

Rolling in like the ocean,

Falling away like rain.

Holding onto their cold sin,

Only scars remain.

*

Love is what she wanted.

Love is what they got.

Love is the one thing that leaves her empty,

And the one thing they cannot love without.

*

Love begins in the twinkle of an eye,

And wanders at the batting of another.

Each one calculating how they become her lover.

*

The new open old wounds;

The old create new.

The possibilities are endless,

Their promises untrue.

*

She stares into his eyes,

Unable to see her pride and its defeat.

Blinded that this moment is completely obsolete.

*

Love cannot survive if its beat is flatlined,

Love cannot be seen if a lover has gone blind.

*

Existence is futile for a love that has no future,

Intercepted by reality,

The force was sure to wake her.

*

Opening her eyes,

She now looks for the end in the beginning,

Too afraid to sleep again,

Too afraid to lose sight of their sinning.

*

With no sign of loves life,

She calls off the search;

She is tired of shooting down loves sadistic urge.

About the Creator

Jollyoddbod Poetry

Here I am, and here I'll stay;

Like the moon in the darkness that refuses to fade.

Clouds will cover, but cannot take from my reign;

Mark this as the moment that they realise, as they scoff with distain.

They fell asleep, I cannot be blamed.

    Your poetry speaks with such an honest, visceral voice.

  • I felt this was so sad until you said she's waiting for her next victim to emerge. That seemed scary, lol! Loved your poem!
