Love Beyond

a poem by an autistic poet

Your voice echoes over the distance,

words of hope fill my being.

The pain that once consumed me,

falls at my broken feet.

I move beyond, I live beyond.

I love beyond because you loved me.

I exist beyond because you allowed me.

I keep moving because you've been the hand in the small of my back,

guiding me.

Even when the oceans are between us,

you send your heart across the seas,

carefully packaged,

tucked in ocean liners,

never sinking.

I wrote this about long distance love, be it a lover, a close friend, a family member you haven’t met yet, love defies borders.
