In a quiet village

where the river hummed old songs

and the wind carried stories

through fields of maize and grain,

a young man asked his beloved:

"What walks beside me every day,

yet leaves no footprints in the dust?

What follows me from dawn to dusk,

yet weighs less than a feather?"

She smiled beneath the mango tree.

"Your love," she whispered.

"It walks with me wherever I go."

The cattle grazed nearby,

and the sun painted gold upon the hills.

Then she asked him:

"What grows without rain,

blooms without a garden,

and becomes stronger

with every passing season?"

The young man looked into her eyes.

"Our love," he replied.

"For it grows in our hearts."

The village elders sat beneath the old baobab,

sharing tales of years gone by.

The lovers sat nearby,

speaking in riddles only they could solve.

"What is richer than a king's treasure,

yet cannot be locked inside a chest?

What shines brighter than silver,

yet cannot be bought at the market?"

She already knew the answer.

"A faithful heart."

The evening came,

and smoke rose gently from village kitchens.

Fireflies danced between the reeds.

The young man took her hand

and asked one final riddle:

"What begins as two paths,

wandering through separate fields,

yet becomes a single road

stretching beyond the horizon?"

Her cheeks warmed like the sunset.

"A lifetime together," she answered.

The stars appeared,

one by one.

The moon watched over them

as they made a promise

without needing grand words.

For the greatest riddle

in all the village

had already been solved.

What can turn two ordinary souls

into one beautiful story?

The answer was simple.

Love.

The kind that grows beside rivers,

beneath baobab trees,

through seasons of harvest and rain,

and lasts long after

the riddles have all been answered.
