Love at second sight

if your love me

In youthful days, beneath a summer sky,

We met, two strangers, with a fleeting sigh.

A nervous smile, a glance that wouldn't hold,

Adolescence blooming, stories yet untold.

Years drifted by, like leaves upon the breeze,

We built our lives, beneath life's changing trees.

Paths diverged, on journeys yet unseen,

Love's melody unspoken, a muted, distant scene.

Then fate, a playful jester, cast a spell,

A chance encounter, a familiar well.

The bustling street, a crowded, noisy throng,

A shoulder brushed, a face I thought long gone.

Time, a gentle sculptor, etched upon your brow,

Laughter lines and wisdom's gentle bow.

Yet in your eyes, a spark I recognized,

A flicker of warmth, where memories disguised.

Conversation flowed, hesitant at first,

Dusty memories brushed, a lingering thirst.

Stories shared, of paths we'd come to tread,

Triumphs and sorrows, whispered, gently said.

This wasn't the same, the shy, uncertain youth,

But growth and strength, a blossoming of truth.

We saw each other, not with youthful eyes,

But open hearts, where understanding lies.

The world around us faded, a muted blur,

Lost in the present, a future to explore.

Coffee spilled, a laugh that echoed free,

A comfortable silence, a chance to simply be.

Second sight, a gift with wisdom's grace,

To see beyond the surface, to a cherished space.

The missed connections, the words left unspoken,

Now had a second chance, a promise not yet broken.

Not a rekindling of a flame long dead,

But embers rekindled, a new path to be tread.

Love, transformed, with maturity's embrace,

A deeper understanding, a love that finds its place.

This wasn't the love of stolen glances shy,

But a love built on knowing, on a knowing eye.

Respect and trust, woven into the thread,

A love that blooms in autumn, where hearts are truly fed.

The missed connection, a whispered "what if" now,

Faded with the sunlight, replaced by a solemn vow.

To walk hand in hand, on paths yet to unwind,

Love's second sight, a treasure we both find.

So let us cherish this serendipitous blend,

A love matured, a story that transcends.

For in second sight, a beauty can unfold,

A love more precious, a story yet untold.
