Love At First Sight

Never to be seen again

I think I saw you once.

In London, on a busy Friday afternoon.

I was attending this Gothic literature lecture -

Not that I remember it much;

But I do remember this.

My friends and I were on our way to lunch.

I was waiting to cross the road and you;

You carried on weaving through the crowd.

Except you had a purpose

A direction, which,

Every moment was a choice;

One step closer

Towards only you know where.

Your trench coat...

A charcoal grey -

Made of what I'd assume was wool.

The collar was up to your neck.

Yet your coat remained unbuttoned.

Perhaps it was your poise,

Your striking eyes that captured my own.

Commanding my utmost attention

And just like all the best vampires do to their victims, I -

Hypnotised...

Wanted to cleanse myself with lilies

Invite you into a home I didn't own,

Surrender myself to your darkness

Bound my soul and become your moon beneath the stars...

But I was mistaken.

The cars had stopped

The road then crossed

And I never saw you again.
