We cling to our phones like a bear does a sheep
Giving one final read before going to sleep
Is it wrong that I’ll FaceTime my wife from our home
While she’s doing laundry downstairs all alone
At supper we text like we’re zombies, undead
Choose Facebook and TikTok to bonding instead
If thinking we’re lacking in close family ties
Just look how we bond when one’s battery dies
Our love for each other’s exceedingly large
You’ll see that compassion when one needs a charge
Our phones are our bond, we’re as tight as it gets
That love and commitment extends to our pets
I once got a text from our family dog, Lix
It was time for his passion, the fetching of sticks
I have to admit I was highly perplexed
Who’s phone was he using while sending that text
