Love as a Second Language

Love's Lingua Franca

By Gerard DiLeoPublished 3 years ago • Updated 3 years ago • 1 min read

When ignorance of geography

Resorts to the one true tongue

Love stakes a land of itself

A different realm

A different culture

A unique phrasing of exotic linguistics

And quixotic phonics

***

Nuances said indirectly

For you with ears to hear it

Can be heard misdirectly

Indiscriminate

Tripping the wires that puppeteer our dance

***

Feckless or reckless

Constrained by my nature

And foreign nurture

In love with your inner phonetics

Resounding with your beauty contradicting Love's harsh fricatives

Constricting its voice

My sentiment's friction, passing through, as heat kindles

***

Shhh, feel my sounds

Sleep with hers and his

Hear surely, these sibilants

Find safe home

***

You stop my air, my chest depletes

Till sudden release through the eye of the needle

That mends us together from Clotho's spindle

And affricates devolve into gasps

***

Change won't quiver your voicestrings

Like joy does my heartstrings

Just jump at the chance

To cherish me smoothly

***

Phonemes are pheromones

And morphemes, morphine

Joined together digraphically

Our statement goes

Without saying

love poemssurreal poetry
