My mind does not believe it
But my heart declares it so
My mind is loathe to trust it

Have returned much changed from whence I came

"I cannot be in love," I've said
One hundred times a day
"It cannot be, I will not let
My heart lead me astray."
But when the rest is silence
And I'm lying in my bed
Those creeping thoughts of whispers sweet
Start running through my head.
I'm not in love, I know that much
My feelings are a lie
But still I lie awake at night
I'll think of him and sigh
I'll turn my head to find him
And smile when I see
I'm not in love, but wonder
Does he ever think of me?
