Love
They say that love can conquer all,
And catch us gently when we fall.
It fills our hearts with hopes and dreams,
Yet nothing's ever as it seems.
Two strangers meet by chance one day,
And find that words get in the way.
A single glance, a tender smile,
Can make the world stand still awhile.
The smallest touch can mean so much,
The trembling hands, the gentle touch.
A whispered word, a warm embrace,
And happiness upon a face.
They make their promises at night,
Beneath the stars and pale moonlight.
Believing love will never fade,
Or break the promises they've made.
But years can change the strongest hearts,
And sometimes love is torn apart.
The words once spoken with such care,
Become the silence two must share.
An empty chair, a vacant bed,
The things they wished they'd never said.
A photograph, a wedding ring,
Can bring back memories of everything.
And still, beneath the hurt and pain,
Some hearts would do it all again.
For even when the tears have dried,
True love remains somewhere inside.
For love is more than words we say,
Or promises that fade away.
It's knowing someone touched your heart,
And lives within it when you part.
