To fall in love is to lose a part of oneself. And having lost that part, one experiences an aching, a bewilderment, an incompleteness, and a restlessness... all of which may haunt one for an indefinite time.
A part of me one day was lost in you,
As I was looking back and unprepared;
So, incomplete, I somehow faltered through,
The throbbing core within my chest impaired.
As long as I was captive in your eyes,
No absence did I feel to cause me grief;
In you I saw the sunniest of skies
And all I cared in which to have belief.
With you I wandered in an astral mist,
A time too short, which left a lasting glow,
And there was more than flesh I might have kissed,
For you were all I knew or cared to know.
With starlight glancing from the clouds above,
Whate’er I lost in you, I found in love.
