Lost Flowers

terracotta pieces on a dusty shelf

discarded soil and gloves

tattered memories, so brace yourself

lost flowers and loaded guns

broken memories of what took place

the sun filters through the glass

I close my eyes and I still see her face

flashbacks and photographs

innocence shattered and torn apart

no chance to turn back time

no matter how, I can't convince my heart

that's how it goes sometimes

disheveled ground covered with fresh dug dirt

lost flowers strewn around

even their beauty can't disguise the hurt

the silence, so profound

through hollow eyes we try to seek the truth

but find solace in the lies

forgiveness spoiled and far removed

no matter how we try

the world keeps spinning and time won't stop

before we know, it's gone

lost flowers drift away in our teardrops

as everything moves on
