Loss

Surreal

By Joy ErgangPublished 9 years ago 1 min read

This is a tale that may have been told in different ways and in many tongues.

Of a child, varying in age pending on the teller of tales.

Seeking some sort of path of enlightenment.

Given very limited tools of survival.

Not knowing how to sedate the fear that's eating away from the inside.

Isolated deep within the woods, with no human contact.

Loss of direction, space, and time.

Thoughts of death increase with each passing sunset.

Craving nourishment that the seeming forsaken land cannot provide.

Unable to listen to instincts that were never taught.

Regretting the thoughts of ever wanting to be away from civilization.

Aching to be back with the ones that are loved.

Missing opportunities that were told to come if patience were to avail.

Not even realizing that death has come to take the soul in the depths of sleep.
