Living in Rainbows
Healing My Eating Disorder
Being so young, living in rainbows,
Unaware of the critical, prying eyes.
Singing and dancing and playing all day,
Free in the moment, unknowingly wis
Growing some older, hiding my colors!
One by one, they fall away.
Seeing the eyes, they bore into me,
Feeling deep shame, fading to gray...
Older yet, and seeing the toll-
Little me bruised, crying, afraid.
Holding her tight, showing her love,
How far from the rainbows we seemed to have strayed.
Finding my voice, finding my power,
The spectrum emerges, the colors take flight!
Basking in freedom of owning my truth,
Being myself, defiantly bright!
Living in rainbows, more brilliant each day,
Little me beams, as I've found my way.
Aware of the eyes, but standing my ground.
My colors, once lost, are forever found.
