Like The Desert Sands

I let you slip away

Like The Desert Sands

You slipped through my hands,

Like desert sands,

Soft and fine,

Gone in no time.

I tried to hold tight,

till morning turned to night,

yet all that remained

Was silence and sand.

No footprints to chase,

No trace of your face,

The wind took it all,

My heart watched it fall.

The sun burned above,

I searched for your love,

But heat only gave

An empty wave.

Each grain told a tale

Of love grown pale,

Of moments we lost,

And what they cost.

I knelt in the dust,

no love, not a crust,

Just shadows and sky,

And me asking why.

You slipped through my hands,

Like desert sands,

And all I can do,

is to remember us two.
