Life’s A Joke

And I’m Its Punchline

I once lived life as the rebel

But now. I’m the warning

Living life like a whisper

An adventurous phony

Stayed out until sunrise

Now I’m in bed by ten

It was a wonderful life

I need to get living again

I ate what I wanted, anytime of the day

and somehow I never put on any weight

But now I pack on what I try to ignore

It seems, Ive become an eating metaphor

Carded at the door, before I entered the bar

Had the choice of the ones walking me to my car

Now the only ones asking about me at all

Are the age lotion samplers, hanging out at the mall

Seems when life tells a joke

I’m its favorite punchline

It’s all mirrors and smoke

Till you’re the one in its sites

So how are you doing, my friend? Will your daughters be home to celebrate the holidays with you?

I feel you. Lol. Nicely done.

  • This was both so sad and so funny because it's so true. Lol!
