The Reality Is Scary

Doing the dishes, after packing the camper,

I would do it, differently than you do.

Seems like we dawdle around the topic of cancer,

Too many emotions to pack in there, too.

Reminders just pop up,

And I start to shut down.

Completely lost and feeling we’re stuck,

Trying to wrap my head around - (this commotion).

Isn’t as easy as others said it would be,

On to the next level of mind -

Numbing distraction, illuminating the fact that you’re still here, with me.
