Life, Oh Life
Regretful all the years I foolishly lost

Life, Oh Life
Life, oh life,
Where did you go?
I held on tight,
But watched you go.
I gave my heart,
I gave my years,
I played my part,
I hid my tears.
I loved too deep,
I loved too long,
I lost my sleep,
I stayed so strong.
I gave my youth,
I gave my dreams,
I swallowed truth,
And hid my screams.
I waited there,
Through every night,
I breathed his air,
And lost my light.
The years went by,
The seasons changed,
I watched them fly,
My life rearranged.
I lost my smile,
I lost my way,
I stayed awhile,
Then stayed another day.
I looked for love,
I asked for less,
I prayed above,
For tenderness.
But love was cold,
And time was cruel,
My heart grew old,
While playing fool.
Now here I stand,
With empty eyes,
A trembling hand,
A heart that cries.
Where did I go?
Where did I hide?
How could I know
I’d lose my life?
Life, oh life,
You passed me by.
I was his wife,
But forgot to fly.
And now I see,
What I became:
A ghost of me,
Without a name.
Yet somewhere deep,
Beneath the pain,
A heart still beats,
A spark remains.
So life, oh life,
Though years are gone,
I’ll end the strife,
I’ll face the dawn.
I cannot turn
The years away,
But I can learn
To live today.
The love I gave
Was never waste,
It made me brave,
It shaped my face.
And though I cried,
And though I fell,
The girl inside
Still knows me well.
Life, oh life,
Come back to me.
I’ve paid the price.
Now let me be.
