Life And Death
Distractions/ In Loving Memory
Death comes without invitation or regard. Digging, ravaging the calm
Inconsiderate of the pain that tears the flesh away, revealing regret
Sadness invades and corrupts your soul with doubt
Taking the last breath from your lungs, watching as you gasp to survive. Unmoved by your longing
Reality becomes a distorted image of fear and anguish, struggling with compassion
Anger feeds on the tears, carving lines of grief into memories that are still alive
Comfort is illusive
Time passes like the cold wind of winter, void of sunshine or hope
Images of yesterday play on repeat. Reminding what is lost
Only the darkness can understand the ache of separation
Numbness is peaceful. Expressionless, but under the surface, the scars prepare to heal

I wish you didn’t know the feels to write this so profoundly. 🥰
This was extremely poignant and so beautifully written!
Brilliant & beautiful expressed!!! It's heartbreaking and healing!!! Loved it!!!❤️❤️💕
An elegant and beautiful way of capturing so much sadness and grief. Very well done!
As you know, Kelli, this is where I live. You've described it so well, except for one thing I would add. The scorching heat of summer's rage, tempest & storm. (I like winter a lot. I'd hate to have it be the only season dissed. But that's just me. You do you.)
"Comfort is illusive." Oof. Beautiful, poignant, and absolutely heartbreaking. 😔❤️
