Licks of joy
A short ode to sharing ice cream

Our best ice cream brand in a big bowl
Fetched from the kitchen for me and you.
Two toppling scoops like mounds of gold,
melting into a moat of velvety goop.
Long, gooey salted shreds of chocolate
like a lazy brooding dragon coiled.
Who’s the one hoarding it?
Steaming snarls of smoulder
From your nostrils flared. You stare,
as I steal away bits of treasure
with surely, licks counted unfair -
But I can’t stop there it seems.
My mouth waters for you.
I couldn’t hoard the ice cream,
It’s gone all too soon.
So I chose to hoard you,
A true mountain of gold.
