Li'l Earth

Time to Plant

Li’l Earth woke up today, and found his world was in a dreary dismay. Once and long this earth was great, it was green, and life was abundant and fruitful.

Even though he was small he was a part of the whole, he felt everything and it was horrible.

There were no fish, no frogs and no greenery, just dry sand, hard rocks, it was so sad to see.

The birds have stopped singing and melodies that once filled the air seem forever gone, like they were never there.

It was so hot that he spent most days in the shade of a large overhanging rock. What could he do?

With nothing but time to think, so in and about he wondered while searching for water to drink.

Li’l Earth trotted along a lonely path of long dead weeds, Inside the thicket, life was absent, no insects, not even a slight breeze.

Around he walked looking here and there for anything living. But it seemed like life was now rare.

As he travelled near and far he felt a powerful need to find a flowing stream,

He wished to see some fish, some frogs and some greenery.

He remembered the trees of yesteryear He looked towards the horizon and shed an earthly tear.

From his tears he planted his seeds, Hoping soon they’d become strong saplings. How to water his plants pondering what he could do, So Into the ground he went, for water must be down there. This he absolutely knew.

And for the rest of the day and into night, Li’l Earth dug and dug with all of his might. Once he reached water it began to upward to flow. Up and up he rode the gushing water up into the moonlights glow.

He watched the water flood his plants giving them a chance. Li’l Earth thought it was a good day and under the moonlight he danced.
