'Let Me In'

The Darkness of Mental Illness

For now you are so far away,

yet always right behind me

From a harmless looking shadow

comes creeping something so frightening

I didn't run when we were face to face

Your darkness was strangely inviting

Staring into what seems to be eyes

I realized you have no soul

Sockets that are home to nothing

So dark, so black, more than coal

"Let me in." your deep voice bellowed

Then you fashioned a thin toothed grin

I did not object and with my mind at your disposal

You dug your claws so deep to lead a chaotic journey

My worst enemy but yet my best friend

I accepted my new fate

You're with me until the end
