You gave me lemons and I made lemonade

I took a mere poem and turned it into a romantic serenade.

I took the stem of flowers that has no bloom, painted a unique one on it, to uplift the gloom

I changed the melody of the blues, to a euphoric atmosphere,

sprinkled it with Jazz and fancy foot work and color, It drew many sisters and brothers.

I made lemonade from the lemons you sent; this is how I decided to vent.

To transpose, transmute, what is viewed as adverse

To break small and great generational curses.

I made lemonade from the lemons you sent,

This is how I decided to vent.

When I got low and rubbed elbows with despair, I felt a power from within that burst into the air. The words that followed were heaven sent. He cast out the enemy who came as lint.

You gave me lemons and I made lemonade, I smooth over that beast, who came from afar to make me his feast. I took one of the lemons, added sparkling to it, a drop of rose oil, he had a fit! He did not know what came from above, its in my DNA and it’s called love.

I made lemonade from the lemons you sent; this is how I decided to vent.
