I find solace in the written word,
To my soul books are like oxygen,
An early love of reading promoted personal growth,
Grand adventures fueling my imagination,
All whilst never needing a passport only a library card,
Obtaining knowledge while relaxing like a Twain character,
Becoming an adult opened my eyes to a literary world I had only dreamed of,
Soon my collection had begun,
With genres like graphic novels and vintage prints,
From Arthur Conan Doyle to J. R. R. Tolkien,
Carrying my portable escape ensures I’m never without air,
Most comforting of all is the musky smell,
To my noses delight the aroma varies with each publication,
Age, paper type, ink, and cover material each play a role in the earthy scent,
Books give unconditional comfort if you embrace it
