Late For My Interview
A Morning That Deserved a Refund.
As my alarm clock went off, I realized I was late for my job interview.
I jumped in the tub to take a shower.
The hot water faucet did not work.
Cold water gushed over my body.
I really should have stayed home.
Five minutes later I jumped in my car.
I turned the ignition and sped down the road.
Rain fell. My wipers did not work.
I called my interviewer, was thirty minutes late.
I really should have stayed home.
I walked in the door hanging my head.
My interviewer did not say a word.
I sat down. My legs fidgeted.
With a knot in my throat, I looked straight ahead.
Each time I was asked a question,
I muttered words under my breath,
Wanted to speak softly but could not.
I kept tapping my feet on the floor.
Knowing I made a fool of myself,
I really should have stayed home.
I talked to myself as I left.
Feeling low, unable to forgive my behavior.
I must not be fit to work at that job, I sighed.
I had shown no emotion,
Not even a smile appeared.
The clothes I wore were not my best.
Move on I had to do.
