The luster of the water froze between two heartbeats
it is the beginning of a water-lily
the wind blows with streams of life
he kissed two leaves floating on the water
like two thirsty lips
geysers of life are springing up true columns of wonder
and thus sky and earth are united
the seeds are boiling
under the stroking sun
and the life
erupts from the ground
the water-lilies
are the prodigal sons
adopted by the waters
when asked what it wants to be
when it grows up
the water-lily responded
that he wishes
a root in the ground
and longing for water
that is a crying willow

Final Call
She flings her arms around my neck and squeezes me like she’s never going to let me go. My head spins as her lips brush against my cheek. She must be able to feel my heart thumping in my chest. I shuffle backwards and ram my hands into my coat pockets, watching her reach down and heave the rucksack across her shoulders.
