Laid Bare

To averted eyes

By Jada FergusonPublished 3 months ago • 1 min read
Something I saw in the middle of the night

Shine a light on them.

The ladies drum up a rhythm with their presence

The party flocks to them

Their essence draws

Eyes and energy

-

Their sisterhood sustains them

When there is no hydration or nourishment to be had

Emboldens them

When insecurity tries to enter their force field

Revitalizes them

When the party suctions off too much of their light

-
Shine a light on them

They huddle closer to block out the intruding beam

It's weakened their vision

The unnatural light dulls their vibrancy

And disorients from their path

They tarry in circles

Rotating out of each others orbit

Neighbors that are light years away from each other

-
No one knows where they are

Their families wail their memory

Yelp their names

Till their vocal chords crackle

No one

Shines a light on them
