La Llorona

woman in white

Ancient like Aztec time

the weeping woman, a very bad sign

an omen one of ten

said to have drown her own children

nothing, not even her soul to sell

so dirty, dark like she is straight from hell

children gone nothing here

she is a figure of pure fear

some say she is a light

but she is nothing more than the woman in white

set to wander the earth alone

punishment set to atone

how high does a soul soar

what price is the omen of war

evil omen to say the least

was she more than a savage beast

when does a soul become lost

not to mention were children her cost

using the water to hide

abuse and madness led to suicide

all of this because of him

her world lost, life so dim

mothers hoping words hit their mark

not to wander after dark

tripping, turning, silent notes

shes said to overturn river boats

lost for all of time

for killing her children, this her ultimate crime

once known as an ancient goddess

now nothing more, but a whole lot less

sad poetry
