Knifed In My Back
I trusted you with everything,
my heart laid bare, my soul exposed,
every word I spoke, a fragile gift,
every secret I held, a treasure you chose.
And yet, the knife was there,
hidden in your hand, unseen,
a twist of fate, a turn of heart,
the betrayal sharp, sudden, and keen.
I adored you in ways I cannot name,
I loved you beyond reason or measure,
and while I held you close,
you plotted quietly, without pressure.
The laughter we shared echoes hollow now,
every touch feels like fire on ice,
every memory is a thorned rose,
beautiful once, now cut with vice.
How could someone I held sacred
be the architect of my fall?
How could devotion turn so cruel,
how could I have believed it all?
I walk through the ruins of us,
each step echoing the pain you gave,
every glance at what we were
reminds me of the love I could not save.
I trusted you as the world trusted the sun,
as flowers trust the rain to come,
and yet, betrayal is colder than winter,
and love, when broken, leaves me numb.
I see your face in every shadow,
I hear your voice in every wind,
but I will not bow to the hurt,
I will rise, though torn and thinned.
Knifed in my back by the lover I adored,
I learn that even love can deceive,
that hearts can bleed in silence,
and faith can crumble if we believe.
Yet from this wound, a fire awakens,
a truth I cannot and will not hide,
that even when love betrays,
my own strength will not subside.
