I leave a knife under my pillow.

Just in case you darken my doorstep again.

It's for my own protection.

Because I am scared I'll wake up dead.

You never know what lies in the dark.

I sleep with a weight of dread on my chest.

Expecting that you'll enter my home again. '

I live in fear.

The unknown possibilities are out there.

My anxious brain cannot take the outcome.

So instead I lie in fear.

With protection underneath my head.

This was so relatable because I've had a burglar enter my room when I was sleeping. This happened 9 years ago and I'm okay now. I hope you are too 🥺❤️
