Today

I stumbled across

your page

and I wish I didn't

*

I couldn't help but

click the link

that brought me to

glean your page

of new poetry you've written

*

Curiosity

killed the cat

At least I have 8 more lives

after I had spent one on this

*

Below a poem

that has to be one of

the most beautiful things

that you've ever written

You expressed that the closest

you will ever be to love

is addiction

*

I cried for you metaphorically

because that has to be one

of the most depressing things

that you've ever written

*

I wish that part of you heals

because that is a sad life to live

*

Addiction is the poison you drink happily

thinking it will replace the void in your being

and the secret to freedom is

that love is the cure for any addiction

*

I know because I’ve been there before

and I know there’s a way out

A life beyond addiction's stronghold

*

I wish for you that one day

the permafrost around

your icy heart will melt

and true love will awaken

*

Percolating

out of your soul

like oxygen bubbles

that have been trapped

in the ice for millennia

*

Warming in the sun

mixing with the air

of the new atmosphere

*

So you can feel

the effortless joys

of feeling your heartbeat

like a drum

that inspires dancing feet

to tap along

*

Because I hope

if you learned anything

from our connection

is that everyone deserves

to feel and be

loved and accepted

Even if the only person

who loves you is yourself
