Just one smile

One smile from you

Has so much power

Power and potency

-

Just one smile

One smile from you

Can bring warmth

Warmth when all is cold

-

Just one smile

One smile from you

Would lessen the misery

The misery and pain

-

Just one smile

One smile from you

Brightens the dark

The darkest of days

-

Just one smile

One smile from you

Can make all feel right

Right in the world, our world

-

But, I know

Know that one smile

Is often too hard

Hard because of hurt

-

Trust in tatters

Can it ever be sewn back together?

I live and hope

Hope and keep trying

-

Trying is all

All I can do

To make you smile

Just one smile

Thanks for reading

This just kind of came to me in one sitting. I seem to like repetition a lot in my poems at the moment. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this one!

    Interesting reflection. Good work.

  • Trust in tatters, can it be sewn back together? Maybe it can but it'll never be the same again. I really loved the repetition too!

  • When you know you have broken trust with someone & lost that smile which once set the world aright, & how you long for any indication it might return. The bitterness of home as you continue denied, unforgiven, lost.
