Just a Human Being

A poem

I am viewed as imperfect,

Just a human being.

I have stitched myself together with flaws and oddities.

I am far from whole.

I filled my brain with lies and insecurities.

I used to poison myself with all the lies that you told me.

Used to make myself utterly sick from the words you would spew.

Love is a drug too you know.

Now here we are.

The things you said that I am,

Are all the things that I am not.

Your words used to hold power over me.

Till one day everything I knew changed.

I realized that those words means nothing now.

Not a single thing you say or do can hurt me anymore.

I've grown and changed while you stayed the same.

You can send flying monkeys after me.

Spew whatever tall tale you want to tell next.

I am far from perfect I know.

At least I am honest though.

The truth shines quietly in the night.

Like the lone moon high above in the sky.
