Just a grain of sand

Slipping through my fingers I can’t hold on to you

Just a grain of sand

Like sand, you slipped out of my hands,

A quiet drift, a fading strand.

No grasp could hold, no plea could stay,

You simply sifted clean away.

The harder I clutched, the less remained,

A soft escape, a silent pain.

Each grain a moment, lost and bare,

A memory scattered in the air.

Though empty now, my palms still feel

The ghost of you, so sharp, so real.

Like a kiss so hot so real,

Only a memory the sand wasn’t real.
