Lost in a moment

Where time loses control

Lost in the knowing

I would be known no more

Lost in emotion

Swallowed up in the pain

But you conquered the ocean

And found me again

Held in an embrace

That broke through the despair

Held in such a way

Like my prayers in the air

Held me together

You put my heart back in place

You held it together

With that smile on your face

You saved me without knowing

I was looking to be saved

You saved me by showing

A glimpse of compassion and grace

You saved me when embracing

I’ll never be the same

Saving more than you knew

When you came, calling my name

A/N

Based on the true life story of Yossi Ghinsberg, a 21 year old man who was lost for three weeks following an accident in the Bolivian Amazon with his friends. He noted that it wasn’t the jungle that nearly broke him, but the thought that no one was coming for him; then he heard someone calling his name. A movie, Jungle in 2017 recreates his experience and inspired this poem.
