Jolly Spot Lounge

lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

[Verse 1]

Pulled off 331

Dust on my boots

Sign said Jolly Spot Lounge

In faded red and blue

Parking lot gravel

Cracklin’ under my truck

I walked through that crooked door

And straight into us

[Chorus]

Jolly Spot love song

Spinnin’ on that old jukebox

Your hand in mine

Two hearts tangled in small-town talk

From DeFuniak nights

To that Florala sky above

Jolly Spot Lounge

Where I fell in love

[Verse 2]

You were pourin’ cold beer

In a gray band tee

Laughin’ with the locals

But your eyes found me

You said

“You ain’t from ’round here

I can hear it when you speak”

I said

“I’ve been drivin’ my whole life

Just tryin’ to find this seat”

[Chorus]

[Bridge]

We’d sneak out back by the ice machine

[low vocal register] Moon hangin’ low over fields of green

You’d trace your name on my flannel sleeve

Say

“Stay a little longer

Don’t you ever leave”

From that county line to the state road sign

Your pretty name hums in my mind

Florala

Florala

Soft as a prayer

But my heart’s still sittin’ at that bar stool chair

[Chorus]

[guitar solo]
