JESUS WATCHES AND CRIES FOR US

Jesus watches from Heaven,
He sees this world below,
He sees the pain we carry
That no one else can know.

He sees the frightened mother
Who cannot feed her child,
He watches as she comforts them
And forces out a smile.

He sees the lonely old man
Who waits beside the phone,
Hoping one of his family
Remembers he’s alone.

He sees the little children
Who hide when fighting starts,
Their hands held over their ears,
With terror in their hearts.

He sees the bombs still falling,
He hears each final cry,
And every innocent person
Who never knew just why.

He sees the cruel laughter
Directed at the weak,
He hears the prayers of people
Too frightened now to speak.

He sees behind the curtains,
Behind each painted face,
He sees the hidden bruises
That make a home unsafe.

He walks beside the homeless
Who sleep upon the street,
And counts the frozen teardrops
That gather at their feet.

A tear rolls down His cheekbone
For all that we have done,
For every grieving mother
Who has to bury a son.

He does not cry from weakness,
His tears are born from love,
Each one becomes a blessing
That falls from Him above.

And when we think He’s silent,
He whispers through our pain,
“I never have abandoned you,
I’ll help you stand again.”

Jesus watches and cries for us,
He holds each wounded soul,
And when this world has broken us,
His love will make us whole.
