Serendipitous amazement, your assignment so bright
A vision of beauty, sheer joy, true delight
Angels & demons for your heart...did they fight
***************************************************
Serendipitous amazement, your assignment so bright
You soared to the city and and the simple left sight
Until days became dark and nights had no light
****************************************************
Angels & demons for your heart...did they fight
The struggle and battles became stronger in might
You ran and you cursed, life was all wrong and nothing was right
****************************************************
You moved to the coast where you reached a new height
For awhile you found solace and worked out of your plight
Serendipitous amazement, your assignment so bright
*****************************************************
Angels & demons for your heart...did they fight
Chaos and hurt brings evil shadows to the night
Tormentors sought hard to snuff out your light
*****************************************************
We lost you at twenty-two years of age that night
Angels & demons for your heart...did they fight
And Heaven opened its doors to you and your light
Serendipitous amazement, your assignment so bright

True story of my beautiful grandchild who died from a heroin overdose. She touched many lives with her beautiful self, but left much too soon... her short assignment on earth brought love and joy.

So powerful! I am so sorry for the loss of your granddaughter!! There is way too much of that going on.😭❤️
An impactful and emotional poem. Good work Shirley. A line that stood out ..“ Angels & demons for your heart...did they fight” .. sometimes things are sadly out of our control. 😔 Best wishes sent!
Dear Shirley - I'm at a loss for words; how does one explain these horrible tragedies? Our Vocal Village Dr. Donna L. Roberts just wrote a narrative about the 'Stages' of anxiety. Feelings of hopelessness and despair that oftentimes escape from reality, even for a moment, seems to be the only answer. As a writer, you write, on any topic as though you are just talking to us; we all feel this with you. - Always with my Respect - Jay, Jay Kantor, Chatsworth, California 'Senior' Vocal Author - Vocal Village Community -

Oh Shirley, this is a heartwrenchingly, beautiful, Villanelle tribute to your precious granddaughter, Jade Elizabeth. It brought tears to my dry eyes. Touching conclusion. "And Heaven opened its doors to you and your light Serendipitous amazement, your assignment so bright." My prayers are with all of you that she left behind.
