Jacaranda Tree

My first poem as a child

I like the Jacaranda tree,

The blossoms in the spring.

It makes my heart leap for joy,

And birdies come to sing.

~

The little birdies gather straw,

And tuck it in the tree.

They lay some eggs and very soon,

The babies tweet to me.

~

They soon grow up and fly away,

The flowers then are gone.

I miss the lovely purple beauty,

And miss the birdies song.

~

The ground is laid with purple hue,

Since all the flowers fell.

The sunset blends into the trees,

Like an autumn orange spell.

~

Very soon the leaves will fall,

And leave the branches bare.

I feel a little sad inside,

The beauty no longer there.

~

A skeleton stands in its place,

Of flowers, birds and leaves.

Soon spring will come and once again,

Bring blossoms to the trees.

~

I love the Jacaranda tree,

The joy it’s blossoms bring.

Strong throughout the winter cold,

It’s brave and waits for spring.
