Its Taking Time For Me To Forget You

I still remember summer evenings,

when we were children running free,

laughing until the streetlights glowed,

with no thought of what life might be.

The years moved quietly around us,

changing things we could not see,

turning innocent conversations

into what felt like destiny.

You were there through awkward moments,

through growing pains and restless nights,

through dreams scribbled on notebook pages,

through endless talks beneath moonlight.

We carried secrets nobody knew,

shared hopes too fragile to explain,

believing nothing could divide us,

certain love would always remain.

Then life arrived without a warning,

pulling us along separate roads,

placing distance where there was closeness,

adding weight to young hearts’ loads.

I watched the person I once cherished

slowly become someone unknown,

standing beside memories of us

while feeling completely alone.

Even now your name still lingers,

appearing when I least expect,

hidden among forgotten places

I have never managed to neglect.

It’s taking time for me to forget you,

more time than I thought it would take,

because some loves begin in childhood

and leave a mark that does not break.
