It's so Grand of You to Join Us!
A poem

It's grand of you to join us!
Sirs and Madams of Congress, you insufferable, lovable beasts.
We thought you didn't care,
we thought you loved to watch us suffer, mourn, and die.
We thought you thought, our Hell was untouchable.
But here you are,
it's so grand of you to join us!
What a revelation this is!
You arrived in golden carriages
and you dared come down to where we plebeians play,
all to watch us pull up our dirtied skirts and twirl around the guillotine.
Oh, it's so grand of you to join us,
it really is such a fine day.
You'll find we make the most of it,
with our little lives and meager bread, our taxes and our dead.
But here you are,
with your ornate necks all shiny and prepped.
Forgive the mess;
you'll find blood is a difficult stain.
Yes, yes, the red is so hard to remove.
Here, step up on this pedestal,
yes, Sirs and Madams, the one just right of the noose.
Ah, what a fine day!
It's so grand of you to join us!
