It Was The Ring
Two poems that take on a different meaning when you read the lines from bottom to top 1. A husband's strong feeling of love is awakened during a terrible dream. 2. The feeling of love is strong from the beginning of the story.
Oh, it was the ring!
During the rain
Who rings so late?
The door, the bell
Twas so extreme
The way it felt
The dream seemed real
The turning keel
The clanking rust
The sound, the thrust
The eerie noise
The scream, the gusts
The sloping poise
The weight adjusted
The Gail did wail
The storm, it howled
The windblown sail
The sharks, they prowled
They ringed the boat
The boat rose tall
The waves rolled hard
Inside the squall
The boat was scarred
The old Sea Dog Just jumped like a flea
That went on a trip, at sea
Like a boxer in the ring
The sweet old dog
He started to sing
He lets out such a plaintive howl
One would think he was an owl
He misbehaved
He wagged his tail
When we jumped into the boat
We thought it would stay afloat
At that lagoon
Where I so loved to sleep
And liked to sing
I played a tune
And wore the ring
I felt how much I love
