IT TAKES TWO

Bless His Patience, but Please Bless Mine Too

I don't mind sounding wobbly.

*

When I met you I knew,

but I’d never say that was true.

*

When I stopped denying I was no longer defying,

but you still never stopped trying.

*

When you said you’d be only mine I assumed it was a pick-up line,

but it’s not because I didn’t know you were a gold mine.

*

When we walked in the mall I had no idea I'd so deeply fall,

but I did realize it was of no more use to stall.

*

When you dashed my mask it wasn’t after first caring to ask,

but when you leaned in we both knew it was obviously time to bask.

*

When you told me it was forever I thought "that happens almost never",

but you astutely suggested believing in it was more clever.

*

When we fought over nonsense I went back on the fence,

but it’s only because I couldn't be where it was tense.

*

When we talked about being apart I wanted to rip out my heart,

but that’s how I knew the idea had to be ripped off the chart.

*

When love intertwined with our fragilities it grew stark insecurities,

but then we projected them with so many obscurities.

*

When love at first sight is deemed to deceive it’s impossible to achieve,

but it’s only when it’s real that it will never leave.

*

So why fear?
